Operations and Finance Specialist

If you are looking for a ‘corporate’ HR gig, this isn’t it. We do HR differently.  We primarily work with employers who have no HR professional on staff.  In a normal week, our HR Consultants work with multiple clients on a variety of projects. To be on our team, you need to be HR savvy, but also must be organized, adaptable, and confident in dealing with people and challenging situations!

Alternative HR, LLC’s Human Resource Consultants provide professional assistance, analysis, and advice to clients (small to medium sized businesses, non-profit organizations and public entities) who need help competing for talent, complying with federal and state employment regulations, and creating a work environment where individuals and organizations can excel.  

Our consultants will assist with a wide range of services, including recruiting, screening, selection, onboarding, training, employee development, performance management, compensation, benefits, policies, procedures, workplace investigations, compliance, strategic HR planning and succession planning.

Essential Functions of our HR Consultants: 

  • Conduct Human Resource Risk Assessments
  • Initiate, Plan and Execute HR Projects for Alternative HR and for Clients
  • Provide On-Going HR Management and Administration for Fractional and Interim Clients
  • Support the Alternative HR Team; Strengthen the HR Profession
  • Seek and Develop New Clients and New Projects

Requirements to be one of our HR Consultants:

  • 5-7 years of HR Generalist background, with BA/BS in business, HR or related field
  • Strong understanding of business, people and performance management
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analysis, problem-solving, research and report writing skills
  • Strong organizational skills; effective PC and telephone skills
  • Confident, professional, positive, with ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Will require some on-site assistance, some remote assistance; occasional travel required
  • (Preferred) SHRM and/or HRCI certification, or Masters in HR or Business

Alternative HR is looking for an Operations and Finance Specialist (30+hours/week) to provide support to our HR leadership and consulting teams, as we work with businesses, non-profits and public entities throughout the Midwest. As our Operations and Finance Specialist, you wil provide accounting support, financial analysis, operations support, as well as tackle other projects and administrative functions.

Alternative HR is a leading provider of outsourced HR and fractional HR services. We provide a wide range of professional support that helps our clients compete for great talent, assure compliance with employment regulations, and create an environment where individuals and teams can excel and prosper. We need your talents to help us continually improve our effectiveness and reach!

Here’s what we need you to do:

  • Accounting Functions
    • Prepare invoices; review invoices; manager AR and AP
    • Verify time records and deductions; manage bi-weekly payroll
    • Maintain and reconcile bank accounts
  • Financial Analysis
    • Prepare and review monthly and quarterly statements and reports
    • Perform income and cost analysis of various projects and services
    • Provide options and recommendations to leadership
  • Operational Support
    • Manage software: i.e. CRM, time and attendance, project management tracking
    • Assist with client account set-up and maintenance
    • Prepare and maintain vendor and client business agreements
    • Provide consultant and client service as needed
  • Administrative Support
    • Provide administrative support to CEO and Director of Operations
    • Maintain and file businesss and legal documents
    • Administer company benefits and insurance coverages
    • Respond to or forward phone calls, customer inquiries, etc.
    • Coordinate or manage internal projects as assigned

Here is what you need to bring to the table:

  • Solid bookkeeping and accounting experience, with good analytical skills; accounting degree preferred
  • Intuitive problem-solving and analytical skills – and willingness to collaborate with others in doing so
  • Experience providing operational support: i.e., account management, SOPs, best practices, etc.
  • Strong software skills: i.e., QuickBooks, CRM, project management, time tracking, Office 365
  • Strong organizational, customer service, and interpersonal skills
  • AND, bonus points for experience working with HR functions or with HR professionals!
